Greg Martin Auctions Offers Rare & Unique Colt Firearms from Great American West at Historic Sale on January 18 in Las Vegas
Two extraordinary collections of Old West firearms come up for bid at GMA. Colt Factory Archives Collection (Part 1) features items unique in American history. Buck Stevens Collection offers one of the rarest arms extant - Colt Single Action Army Revolver Serial No. 1 - estimated at $500K - $1MM.


SAN FRANCISCO, CA, January 15, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- On January 18, 2009, Greg Martin Auctions celebrates historic firearms from the Great American West in Las Vegas, when two extraordinary collections come to the auction block. The Buck Stevens Collection features 77 unique firearms, including one of the world's rarest -- the historic Colt Single Action Army Revolver Serial No. 1., known as the "Peacemaker" -- estimated at $500,000 - $1,000,000.

This collection complements Part 1 of the three-part Colt Factory Archives Collection auction, featuring 1,200+ items from the earliest years through today. These firearms, unique in the annals of American history, are known for rarity, condition and diversity. Part 1 offers 430 outstanding firearms, including "the Last Colt Handgun Made in Hartford."

The auction takes place at Riviera Hotel & Casino Sunday, January 18, from 3:30 pm. Previews are January 17 from 9 am - 5 pm.

Auction highlights include:

• Sam Colt's beginnings as an inventor, gunmaker and marketing genius were with the Paterson, New Jersey, revolvers of c. 1836-42. The most coveted first practical revolver is the No. 5 or Texas Paterson, Serial No. 247. Lot 1 (Estimate: $100,000 - 150,000)

• Colt Walker Model 1847, Serial No. A Company No. 11. Just 1,100 were built, 1,000 for the U.S. military. Lot 2 (Estimate: $200,000 - 300,000)

• The Stevens Collection's most famous firearm - Serial No. 1 Colt Single Action Army "Peacemaker" revolver. This American icon is one of the most revered firearms ever manufactured. Lot 51 (Estimate: $500,000 - 1,000,000)

• "Last Colt Handgun Made in Hartford," Deluxe Single Action Army, Number "May 31, 1994/Hartford," kept by the Colt factory as its most significant 20th-century firearm. Lot 151 (Estimate: $150,000 - 250,000)
